Packing up was pretty quick and easy. I really liked The Point Campground and all the sites nestled in the trees. We had a brief hiccup after pulling out of the site as I left my coffee in the microwave. Luckily it didn’t spill too much. We made a quick dump station visit since we were headed to a full hook up and headed off. The drive was beautiful–lots of lakes, ponds, horses, hills, trees, and green. We stopped at a small gas station and the girls got to come inside and pick out a candy for sleeping in their beds all night.
When arriving at Crater of Diamonds State Park we had to check in at the visitor center. Upon doing so we saw a glimpse of everything we planned on doing the next day–mining for diamonds and Diamond Springs (a manufactured water park, not actual springs). Then we headed over to our campsite to set up. The playground was close and the girls went to check it out (walkies in tow) and Keith headed to grab pizza and wings from the local Pizza Inn. After dinner, we went to the local Baskin Robins for their 16 flavors. Elsa and Keith had chocolate chip cookie dough, I had chocolate chip and Anna had cotton candy. After ice cream we went on a 1.2 mile Little Missouri River Hike where we learned about the trees among us: Loblolly Pine, Southern Red Oak, and Sweet Gum. Following, sleep came quickly.
