We headed to Gunnison today! The rain threatened us all day long, but it side-swept us with a few sprinkles and dropped the temperature about 10 degrees. We went to the playground to start. We had been there last year, and the girls were excited to be able to climb to the top of the rock-climbing rock—they couldn’t do it last year. I stopped by the Visitor’s Center to ask for some hikes but there really isn’t a lot around here that are suitable for the girls.
We headed to a restaurant that allowed Goat Dog to be outside the fence on the rocks. Dog friendly is an open term, but I really liked the restaurant (The Dive Gunnison), but it was obvious they were having staffing issues because there were only three people waiting tables during the lunch rush. So, there was a bit of a wait, but it paid off because the food and drinks were great.
After The Dive, we headed over to a Graphic-T Print shop with a Third Bowl Ice Cream truck outside. I wanted to get a Gunnison sweatshirt, so we all got something. The owner didn’t mind that I asked to take a picture of my brother who has some similar rigs. She was very supportive and cheered on her fellow printer as we left and told me to tell my brother, “Power to the Print! Keep it up!” We had ice cream after including the fun flavors Chili Chocolate Cherry and Honeycomb Lavender. We walked around the little downtown before picking up some groceries, and gas, and headed back to camp. It rained for the rest of the night on and off, so we rested and hung in the camper—reading and journaling before bed.
