On the fourth of July, we spent the day at Taylor Lake Reservoir. We built sandcastles, paddle boarded, threw a beach ball, skipped rocks, sat, and enjoyed the cool breeze, warm sun, and windy shore in front of the Taylor Canyon Mountain Range. Kim and I tried to paddle board all the way to the other shore, but the wind picked up and we were worried we wouldn’t make it back before the storm. I think we tried to do this last year too…next time I guess.
The temperatures up here begin in the 40s in the morning and rise into the low 70s during the day. We headed back in the afternoon as a short storm has been coming. We instituted a short rest time before heading up for grilling (BBQ chicken and a pepper/onion grill pack), smores, sitting by the fire, and once it was dark a glowstick party and lights on the tent that goes with the music. A tagged deer came to visit us—we had to shoo it away—but I think it wanted in on the glow stick fun.
It was very late when we left and Anna was scared of deer from that point on so I had to lay with her til she fell asleep.
