As we drove through Kansas—and I think we said this last summer too—I realized that it is not as flat as I always think it is. It is rather hilly and this year quite green and lush. This however does not mean I want to stay in Kansas more than one night—the forecast had NO twisters, phew. The drive was uneventful except for getting a little lost in “Topeka’s” spaghetti (GPS doesn’t really like the spaghetti) and the realization when we got to Topeka that we were actually in Kansas City’s spaghetti…wait, what? Where are we!
When we got to the Chapman Creek RV Park we had to call to check in. As I called I thought my phone wasn’t working, but it was actually just connected to the car. The girls opened the window and said, “Mom! There is some lady talking on the car!” I think we are beginning to go crazy. I don’t recommend 6 days of driving in a row, but we are doing fine.
It was a chill little campsite, very clean, felt new, and had a playground. The girls got a kick out of taking the walkie-talkie down to the playground and checking in with us. Our call names varied. We had Leaky Dingy, Scruffy face, Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Super Girl, Bat Girl, and Cat Ninja. We took a walk on a very short trail, played ladder ball, climbed some trees, and Anna really enjoyed the playground.
Dinner (Oma’s Mac and Cheese with a side of sliced peppers), was followed by a couple of card games of Golf and reading/journaling in bed. Anna did a particularly good job journaling last night and this morning. Next Stop: Shady Grove Campground in Colorado!

Looks like so much fun ! My son and I will be traveling the week of the 10th to go see 2cardinal baseball games in St.Louis!
Have a great time ! 😊🙏💕
These days, the South gets more tornados than Kansas does. I’ve lived in Kansas for 45 years and have never seen a tornado.
Thank you for stopping in Chapman, KS! I am 64 and have lived here my whole life. Only 1,300 people! Nice town. Good schools! Come back again! 🙂
