Today we had a rough time packing up to leave Crater of Diamonds. After my morning workout, Oma and Opa called to get help with the convoluted process of getting into look at a house we asked them view for us. After giving away our unborn child to allow them to see the house, they had great things to say about the house.
Meanwhile, Anna was upset she had not slept in her bed the night before, kicking Keith out of his bed to sleep in her bed. This meant she would not get a treat today and she was beside herself. As I began to prepare snack, clean and secure the inside of the trailer, Anna continued her 2-hour tantrum. We looked at the photos and considered Oma and Opa’s take on the house they saw and were considering putting in an application when it was taken off the market. Anna continued. I spilt my breakfast of oats and frozen berries all over the camper floor. Anna continued. The 5 gallon bag of water Keith painstakingly fills each time we move to make sure we have enough filtered water whenever we need it fell off the picnic table and leaked all over the concrete. Anna continued. We were able to finally pack-up and exit the park for our 2-hour drive to Little Rock, AR. We were thankful of the tablets that then quelled the forever tantrum.
We arrived at Riverside RV Park in Little Rock, AR around 12:18 pm and were done setting up within the hour. The park was more spacious than our Colorado city RV park and had a nice patch of grass and benches along the river. We had a river and bridge view where you could see all the fun things along the industrial river. It was a really fun park and the girls loved looking at all the boats, bikers, and cranes near by.
Shortly after arriving, we headed to meet the Neveu Browns at Lost Forty Brewery in Little Rock. We sat outside in the sweltering heat–good food, good beer, great company, and over 100 degrees. After sitting in our sweat for long enough, we headed to check out their pad in North Little Rock. It was such a cute little town with a big city feel (apparently North Little Rock is a separate town from Little Rock). I really liked the feel of the whole place. We spent the day catching up with them. The kids all played great together. We took a walk to downtown North Little Rock and played in a huge square with fountains and swings before we said our sad goodbyes. It was a wonderful day, too short, but so welcome and needed. It’s so crazy we hadn’t seen them in 7 years, four kids, and several moves/life shifts.
We headed back to our campsite which was only 4 minutes away and were excited to see the bridges light different colors and had a nice breeze off the river. We took turns getting ready for bed and sitting on the bench near the water with Goat Dog and roof of the camper to watch the bridge. We took about 15 minutes to console Elsa and explain that I wasn’t going to stab her with a needle when she got a splinter in her foot. The girls went to bed watching the changing colors out their windows and sleep again came quickly.
