We drove through the mountains, what more can you say. Oh, my goodness, our site is beautiful. Kim and Ryan’s site is gorgeous. We are surrounded by mountains here and as I type this I can look side and see the last of the snow glistening on the tops.
We drove through mountains—orange clay, rock face houses, a vast meadow I believe was called South Park with 127 acre lots for sale, some rain, and over Cottontail Pass at around 12,578 feet high. The girls would say, “Are we going up there?!” Yup!
When we got to the campsite a huge storm happened just as we were arriving, so we quickly set up before the lightning thundered around us. It sounded so much louder and closer being this much higher. The kids were so excited to see Ava and Austin we rushed through the rest of our setup and headed up to greet our friends!
We separated for dinner (grilled cheese and tomato soup) and for the rest of the night had a few rain showers. The temp got down to around 40 degrees, but the kids played corn hole and ladder ball, we saw 4 deer, a hummingbird, and sat around the fire under the increasingly clear sky. As we left (way too late), the sky had opened to a “galaxy” as Ruby described it.
Note: The girls fighting began to reduce on the 4th day and all the kids are playing nicely together for the most part.
From here on, posts will probably be even more spotty as I have to use a hotspot and it took about 5 minutes to upload the featured image for the last two posts—the wilderness! But as I can get the photos downloaded, I will include links to photos (hope they work): https://photos.app.goo.gl/VtboPZiFQSAybfbb6
