Another lazy morning at the campsite. Keith got some work done while I worked out and the girls watched cartoons. Netflix on my computer is the way to go (unless we had our Chromecast—which we forgot). Often our phones have service and that is better than the campground WIFI. So, it would be awesome if we had our Chromecast (because I have unlimited data) and we could cast from my phone, but that isn’t how we are rolling right now. That is the future.
After my workout, we started to get rolling and pack up for a hike. We decided to take the Lake View Trail hike which was a .7-mile loop. It was a beautiful hike. The girls had trouble with the rocky cliff-like trail and high grass, but they were troupers—beautiful view of the lake and short. But most of the hike we had to trek through spiderwebs, and high plants, and it wasn’t that well-kept. But it was a nice hike. I was feeling great until we got back, and Elsa mentioned a bug on her. Then I remember what our neighbor had declared. We had forgotten the tick spray. And what appeared to be beauty marks on Elsa’s legs were actually tiny ticks. So, for the next 30 minutes, we checked each of us before getting in the car. Then drove back to the campsite and disrobed to thoroughly check even further. We did a good job, but we still found 7 on different bodies while in our camper. Not the fun I had in mind, but we finished our tick check and moved on into bathing suits.
We headed to the beach with snacks in hand and when we arrived only 1 other person was there. It was so nice. A couple of other people arrived later but everyone stayed very distant and it was a lovely time—Anna and Elsa swam, built sandcastles, and the temp was around 87 with a decent breeze. We headed back to start a fire and make some dinner (chicken Italian sausages, pepper/onion grill pack/quinoa and brown rice 90-sec rice packet (my new fav). Roasted some marshmallows and made a few smores. Then while getting ready for bed we went through another tick check.
Things we did:
- I officially finished my 10-week workout plan! Woohoo!
- Took our time waking up and getting ready to hike
- Went on Lakeview Trail and saw beautiful edges of the lake and walked through tall grasses
- Saw a goat just hanging out at the playground where our hike ended
- Elsa said “there’s a bug on me”
- Realized we didn’t put on tick spray
- Spent quite a bit of time finding the tiniest ticks I have ever seen (EWWW!)
- Went to the beach: swam/sandcastles/fun/beautiful
- Talked about quiet and listened and watched
- Saw a few Little Blue Heron’s fly across the water
- Made a fire
- Made Smores
- Anna asked when around the fire: “Do the people that make these campgrounds and campers make people?” =0

Love that hiking pic of the girls with the tall grass (although I secretly get so icked out when things touch me while hiking). Boo for ticks 🙁 90 second rice is DA-BOMB!
