We knew today was a tricky day because we needed new tires on the Tahoe from all this trailer pulling. So, we dropped a chunk of change at Teton Motors to get her all prepared to drive the mountains of Wyoming and Colorado.
We headed to Jackson at 8 am and drove through the cute but busy downtown to Teton Motors. We moved stuff into our loaner car and headed to downtown for breakfast (mostly coffee). I was going to make some tea, but my teapot smelled like plastic on the gas flame, so I aborted that. We parked and walked around and joined the long line at Cowboy Coffee Co. and after many courses—three donuts (one bright pink and huckleberry, one chocolate, one glazed), 2 smoothies, a cowboy croissant, and of course the cold brew coffee YES! —they made everything fresh, so it took about an hour to get everything because it was a continual line out the door the whole time we were there. All downtown Jackson continually got busier as we walked around. We found pickle ball is very popular here and the playground was a good find too (with a bathroom!). You can see our priorities. After a trip to the candy shop we hoped back in our Malibu and drove back to Teton Motors. They were great there. I wish I had taken a picture of the five guys gathered around the passenger side A/C when we complained before we left because it was humming—they had replaced the filter and they opened it up to pull some leaves (oak leaves from FL maybe?) out that had fallen in. =0
After this we had some dog friendly lunch options scouted (because Goat Dog was with us today) and they were all packed with no parking. After driving around, the girls were excited about McDonalds and there was an Albertson’s right next door where I could stock up while they did that (and get a salad).
After our detour we drove the Moose Entrance through Grand Teton National Park, saw a elk, and stopped at Snake River’s damn bridge (we named it that)—actual name: Jackson Lake Dam. Goat Dog was only allowed along the road, so we made camp close to the road and Anna went swimming and we took turns going in the water to skip rocks for a little while. We also made 2 stops to the pit toilets which the girls have started really enjoying using way too much. They have come a long way…the first time they used them they were scared of falling in and Anna refused to go poop for 3 days.
