I’m learning how to work-out in RV parks, Keith is really getting into heavy-duty velcro and tire pumps. We are learning our kitchen and bathroom routines. Toilet paper in the potty or no toilet paper in the potty? To flush the pee pee or not to flush? A lot of conversations revolve around black water and grey water and when, how, and in what fashion we need to dispose of these crucial waters depending on what kind of hookup, how long we are staying, what kind of showers. It’s all very unique to this style of vacation/travel/living. We are learning what sustainable means in our trailer of 24 feet for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Getting out of Sioux Falls was pretty flawless; we are getting the routine down. When we got to the RV park in Badlands someone was in our spot, so we had to wait 10 minutes. We had fun making up the reasons for them checking out 2 hours after check out. We were grateful it didn’t take them long to pack up and head out. After setting up we headed over to the Badlands visitor center to get our Passport stamped and the girls Junior Ranger badges. That’s 2 badges! 2 National Parks! Then of course it was to the pool for a swim after dinner where we learned….the flies BITE!
Things we did:
- Time Change (again!) Mountain Time!
- Talked about the Sioux Lakota Nation and Elsa talked about Sitting Bull who is one of their tribe. (Elsa learned about Sitting Bull with Nonnie). We are on the Sioux Lakota lands.
- Saw more windmills
- Saw the plains grass blow in the wind like waves on the ocean
- Saw cows and bulls (Anna: “I saw a cow wiggling its tail”)
- Saw a dead coyote on the side of the road
- Saw The Biggest Bull sculpture
- Went to the Badlands Visitor Center
- Got our Junior Ranger booklets (this time they had a younger version of the booklet for Leona! They were great!)
- Went swimming
- Got stung by biting flies, which are the worst feature of this RV Park ;/ But not something I image they can help.
- When at the pool, the wind will dry you off in a matter of minutes.
I love all the detail and the pictures are awesome.
yay!
